Virginia online sports betting is here according to VirginiaCasinos.com. On January 21st, FanDuel announced that it has expanded into Virginia and became the first online sportsbook available in the state. FanDuel has partnered with the NFL’s Washington Football Team, which many believe is why they were able to become the first mobile sportsbook to launch in Virginia.
Previously, the Virginia Lottery Board publicly stated that “preferred consideration” would be given to operators who partner with professional sports organizations. FanDuel’s Virginia partnership not only pays dividends in the near-term but there is potential for the partnership to expand, particularly when the Washington Football Team builds their new stadium as a retail sportsbook onsite could be possible.

FanDuel’s sportsbook is accessible in Virginia via all mobile devices using iOS or Android operating systems and via any web browser. Virginians are now able to wager on all major sporting events, including but not limited to the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS, and NCAA.
However, due to state law, folks cannot wager on NCAA events that include at least one university or college from Virginia. Meaning, residents cannot bet on their favorite local college football or basketball team.

In other words, FanDuel will provide a refund (in credit) of up to $1,000 if the first wager at the sportsbook resulted in a loss.
